Taking advantage
of these propitious conditions, the organization began to focus its business
strategy on ambitious projects aimed at expanding distribution channels
for our financial services.
The core of these projects is to market the group's mutual funds based
on their superior yield and liquidity and their simple and clear management,
operation, valuation and rating procedures.
Grupo Financiero Interacciones has designed
a number of mutual funds for the middle-income segment, giving both medium-sized
and small savers access to the same investment opportunities that large
investors enjoy.
Another key strategic decision was to boost the distribution of Interacciones'
financial services through the electronic media, which can efficiently
handle transactions and reduce costs to the benefit of both this organization
and our customers.
At present, Grupo Financiero Interacciones
has a systems platform that allows 100% of our services to be operated
electronically over the Internet-the use of which is growing rapidly in
Mexico, particularly among young people.
With these objectives in mind, we formed a strategic alliance with Todito.com,
which is key to expanding the distribution media for the Group's services.
The alliance encompasses a novel and aggressive marketing scheme, combining
Interacciones' excellent financial services and technological sophistication
with the extensive coverage and electronic-media advertising capacity
of a widely-used portal like Todito.com.
Another part of this ambitious marketing project was the startup of a
plan to strengthen the promotional areas of the bank and brokerage firm
with the goal of doubling both the customer base and loan portfolio by
the end of 2001.
Process efficiency, state-of-the-art technology, and the efforts and dedication
of our staff are all necessary for facing competition in our markets.
But in order to maintain a solid position in that market, it is also crucial
that Grupo Financiero Interacciones ensure
that the quality of our services responds completely to our customers'
needs.
Risk Management
Grupo Financiero Interacciones is committed
to comprehensive risk management, achieved through close collaboration
between our business units and the area responsible for this task, and
a philosophy of constantly bearing in mind the risk involved in each investment
decision.
Our biggest achievements in this area were to establish risk exposure
limits for each business unit and to closely track this exposure.
Meanwhile, support to our promotion area and the business units in designing
tailor-made portfolios for our clients adds further value to the financial
consulting services we offer.
Our Comprehensive Risk Management System, designed to systematically evaluate
the various risks present for our business units, is in its final testing
phase. This procedure incorporates an evaluation of credit risk for financial
instruments and the loan portfolio.
